About the name... I was born Gretchen Lea Bonitz. In 1995, to be closer to my Great Grandmother Carmen Ercell Peace Pope, I legally changed my name. It is sort of a hippy name but I proudly claim it as a ninth generation N.Carolinian Peace. It is a continuous reminder of worthwhile aspirations.
